52 Q & A - tag 8...Laugh out loud!

Our question for this week: What was the last thing that made you laugh out loud? What timing...my youngest sons Jamie & Tom, along with Izzy had been visiting that day and as always, had me in stitches!



One theme, which I cant explain...he he he...you just had to be there...was...BIG BUSHY BEARD!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!

52 Q & A - tag 7.....but first....

Now then, our question for this week is 'What would I do if I knew I could not fail?'...



I had some fun with this one...

I've been tarting up boxes again!

How to:

1. Liberate a couple of 'finest' boxes from Tescos - you do need to be in the right place at the right time, when the right kind of shelf stacking is going on!

2. Re-inforce the bottom, and tidy up the front edge with thick card.

3. Cover all surfaces with manilla wrap (Tesco again...£1 for a big roll). I used Mod Podge for all the sticking, coating all surfaces evenly before sticking paper on. This ensures that although it will bubble and wrinkle big style, it will smooth out perfectly as it dries.

4. Paint all over in desired colour. Acrylic would be good, but I used a sample paint pot - matte emulsion, which of course needed sealing later.

5. Let the fun begin...its embellie time! I made a small scallop template (1" wide) and cut out enough for the front and back edges in good card. I stuck the pieces onto the back of pretty paper and cut out when dry. I then inked the edges and stuck into place on the boxes.

6. I created 3D flowers by cutting from a 12x12 sheet from the K&Company Wild Saffron pad...and stuck these to the front.

7. I covered 2 pieces of card in pink paper to fit inside the bottom of each box.

8. Coat the whole project with matte Mod Podge or similar (matte does give a nicer look than a shiny gloss finish)...expect lots more wrinkles, but again these will smooth.

Voila!

Then proceed to fill with smaller craft books, completed greetings cards, or all manner of odds and ends!

I have to say that these projects are pretty time consuming, but they are fun and its cool to transform some junk and create something out of nothing!

More altered boxes on the way, but meanwhile we are up to Question 6 in the great 52 Q&A project!

There is a hidden answer too, but ssshhh...its a secret!

Lots of crafting going on today...two altered boxes, two cards and a mini-book made using large playing cards...all started, none completed - tut tut! But in my defence, the boxes needed to dry after sticking on paper, having a coat of paint...etc, the cards were put on hold while I thought about how to progress with them - Ive sorted that in my head now, so tomorrow I will finish those...and the mini-book - Im covering pages as I use different pieces of paper for the other projects - so I have lots of brilliant excuses he he!

Im feeling very upbeat right now as I realized as I peeped through the files on my pc, that I have been a very busy bee craft-wise so far this year, where before - I could go for weeks without creating anything. Having said that, I havent attended to the projects promised in my New Year's resolutions so no gold star for me yet! It does feel good to be making pretty things though...I hope this feeling lasts!!!

Now the 'Great Snow Event of 2009' is passing us by, I am enjoying the longer days and looking forward to Spring....it cant be far away surely!!!

Altered cardboard box!

A challenge for February...

Each month on the docrafts scrapbooking forum, a forum member sets a challenge - providing a list of goodies to be used on a layout - and its always fascinating to see all the different creations that are produced. Well, this month it was my turn to set the challenge, so my remit was: One or more photos, a one word title, a circular element, use of a punch, some bling.

I combined this challenge with the rule that when meeting a new friend at Colemans Warehouse, we have to make a layout of the event using stash that we purchased that day and following a lovely meeting with Margaret (Buntyfly), where we also met up with Babs & Cheryl....here is my layout to meet both challenges...

Not only did I make a brilliant snowman AND this layout, I also created my tag for Question 5 - How do I feel today? I hope I get snowed in more often!!!

52Q - tag 5

Yay...a snow day off work...theres one thing I must do!

Build a SNOWMAN!!!



The snow is just perfect for the job so I was out there before 8 a.m this morning having heaps of fun!



Bubbles loved the snow too....

Brrrrr....its a tad nippy out there!

Lots of snow and icy roads - the schools are all shut and Britain is in chaos...what are we like, a couple of inches of the white stuff and we all go bonkers! But trooper that I am (lol!), I managed to find my way to work - and get there without ditching the car! Its all very pretty though, so plenty of photo opportunities, but sadly no snowman yet - its not the right kind of snow - too fluffy & crumbly. No matter, we are promised more snow at the end of the week so maybe I will get my snowman yet!

Before the snow arrived I had the most amazing day out - I met up with Margaret from the docrafts forum...and we happened upon Babs and Cheryl too, and look what fun we were having at the crafty warehouse....



Meanwhile in the crafty world of sue-bubbles, I have created my tag for question 4 of the 52 Q & A project....'When I look into my eyes what do I see?' which is featured below!

The Jazzy Journallers Circle Journal!

Around ten months ago a group of us on the docrafts forum began a circle journal. We named ourselves the Jazzy Journallers and it only seems like such a short time ago, but here we are with our albums finding their way home.

I have made a slide show of all the layouts I did, plus the cover of my album with my selected theme - Starstruck.

The Jazzy Journallers and the themes we chose for our journals are:

Me - Starstruck
Sall - My favourite wild animal
Suzanne - My favourite childrens book (or comic)
Alma - Love & romance
Nicola - Floral
Joanne - Culinary Treats
Margaret - My favourite things
Gill - My Hero
Michelle - Where I live

This was a fabulous project, and although I would start off a bit stumped by some of the themes, I ended up enjoying every single one of them!

My journal is back home with me now, and is absolutely fantastic - thank you Jazzy Journallers for all your hard work, it will be treasured always!
